About
Paper costs a lot to produce. We make it by cutting down the forests that house and sustain whole populations of people, birds and animals.
We move the timber and then the paper to and from mills, using vehicles that load the atmosphere with pollution and burn up our precious resources.
We use the paper and then transport it to rubbish dumps or recycling plants for disposal.
All of this activity takes its toll on our planet.
Which is OK, if the paper’s doing a really important job.
But so often it’s used for ‘junk mail’ — the so-called ‘free’ newspapers that fill up our letterboxes, or advertising leaflets we don’t want.
This website is about ways we can throw off the chains that bind us to paper, and treasure this precious resource.
